Welded gabion mesh is a rigid structure made of steel wire, with the wires welded at every intersection in both the longitudinal (horizontal) and transverse (vertical) directions. This uniform welding process produces precisely dimensioned, stable openings. The welded panels are assembled into containers and filled with stones or other materials for use as structural or decorative elements. Compared with the more flexible double-twist wire gabions, welded wire gabions are relatively rigid; however, once constructed and filled, they still form a permeable, monolithic structure—such as retaining walls, channel linings, or bank protections.
